Narcissus - imperial secretary to Emperor Claudius and head of the secret service.
Born in the imperial household Narcissus quickly developed the necessary skills to win the attention of his masters. After a few years of effective service Narcissus was awarded his freedom under Emperor Tiberius. Keeping his head low during the difficult reign of the next emperor, Caligula, Narcissus served Claudius, a safely obscure member of the imperial family. All of that changed with the surprise accession of Claudius to the throne, and having a talent for exploiting situations Narcissus has now made himself the indispensible right hand of the emperor. Always wary of potential threats Narcissus seeks to nip them in the bud, by whatever means necessary, and he knows that Macro and Cato can be counted on to achieve his needs, once the necessary blackmail and coercion are applied to them.
